As I mentioned in my last post, Farnham Maltings hosted the Unravel Fair. It was all about yarns, wools and what to do with them all. I’m so glad I went with a budget as it would have been so easy to buy the lot.
All the stalls and the stall holders were absolutely delightful, however one stood out for me, and there were a few, a lady called Jenny Barnett. She is a Master felter par excellence! Send her a photograph of your pet and she will felt it.She also creates the most beautiful little dresses, fit for any fairy. Please do let me know if you have anything made by her I would love to see it.
I got to meet the lovely lady from Artisan Yarns who dies seaweed and silk wool. Yes seaweed and silk. I could not help myself but had to buy just one skein and am itching to get started.
I had a try at spinning wool, it takes great skill, which I’m sure will come with practice. Will this be the next step? Oh dear Lord give me more hours in the day 🙂
We have been busy here at our classes too. Siobham has finished making the beautiful cushion cover, her first project on the sewing machine, the napkin rings don’t count she tells me.
Thank goodness it is almost the weekend, so there will be more time to knit.
Hope you are happy crafting too!
love, E X
PS: I found this in the Simple Things magazine: Next time you have a spill go to www.woolsafe.org/uk the award winning Stain Guide app
…………which is why I have been so busy baking, decorating, organising and most of all planning in my head, most of the time at 1 o’clock in the morning. As sleep deludes me I thought of my blog and my neglecting to post in the last week or two.
Our craft classes are coming to an end for this year and I look forward to our last sessions this week. We have all been so busy “making” there is certainly a buzzzz in the air.
Here are a few pictures of the latest creations:
Lisa has taken needle felting to a whole new level
…….and Lisa will never disappoint with her sewing skills either – I would love to have a cuddle with this Rudolf
….. I have had a hand at making a nativity out of black ceramics
I’m so looking forward to Tuesday when I will be hosting a felting workshop. We will be making a tea cosy. I will be posting photographs of this next week, so make sure to keep an eye out for these.
If only there were a few more hours in the day………
I hope you are enjoying the pre-festive season too.
yes we have started……….. have a look our first Henley Squares!!
Miranda came for a taster session and got knitting straight away.
Another great idea (thank you Catriona) why not have a look at all the tension squares you have lurking around your knitting basket….I bet they will make great squares too!
We are welcoming our first international contributors: Jam Tart from Cape Town, South Africa and Crochet Me Lovely, from Texas, USA.
We also had a junior visitor today and within no time she had needle felted a family of delightful bunnies and has since made them into a necklace! How cool is that? So great to see such talent at her young age (11years)
I’m almost sad to say that we are having a one week break (halfterm). I will be practising my crocheting and will hopefully be able to crochet some pretty hearts by the end of next week.
Can’t wait to see you all soon
What a lovely week it has been once again. New friends have been made and we have all been so creative.
It was Karen’s birthday
and it will be Lisa’s daughters birthday too. We are all in awe of Lisa, she designed, cut, stitched and cmpleted the lovely teenager bunting all in our session. She even had time to have a cup of tea and a piece of cake. How does she do this?
Look at the result amazing, isn’t it!
We have new ladies join too, so lovely to have you with us.
I have completed the ballet bag and my daughter is delighted too.
So all in all all a very productive week once again.
The dates for the needle felting workshops have been set. Learn how to make some Christmas decorations of even a few hand made gifts. It is so special to receive a gift that has been hand made.
Dates are as follows:

Friday 22nd November 10 – 12.30pm

Cost for the workshop is £35 and includes all raw materials. You will be able to keep the tools so you can continue the felting at home too 🙂
Booking is essential and places are limited so please let me know soonest if you are interested.
I will be attending a felt making workshop on the weekend, where I will be learning how to felt a hat. Cannot wait 🙂
Have a great week
