A new member in our craft group

Tiger has been with us for 2 weeks now and apart from the widdles and other accidents we absolutely adore her. Yes, her name is Tiger and I’m convinced that her fur is starting to show a few stripes already.

She has decided to join our craft group, yet we still have a while to go till she can master the knitting needles.

Tiger woolThe blanket I had made her is still in one piece, however our toes seem to have a few little bite marks on them. All part of growing up.

I’m still enjoying my Blue Sky Aplaca, Metallica shawl that I’m knitting. It is almost complete, which delights me, yet also saddens me as I really enjoyed knitting this so  much.

The universe provides though, look what landed in my inbox yesterday?

tank top

I get the news letter from Purl Soho and this pattern is free ( I do like a free pattern). The only draw back is the  wool used for this tank top is called Miky way from Anzula at $45.30 per skein. The wool is 80% milk protein and 20% superwash merino.

Maybe it is just as well that is not available in the UK. I could order from the US, but the postage is expensive too. So, I will be searching for a wool that would look just as beautiflul. Do you have any suggestions?

As you might have notice I like to talk about bits and pieces that I like and if I really like something a lot then I will blog about it too 🙂 I would like to remind you that all my “likes” are my opinion and my opinion only. Please do your own research if you would like any further details etc.

Right now I’m really liking coconut oil. It has so many uses and I love the taste as well as the smell. During my research I cam across WellnessMama and 101 uses for coconut oil   You will be amazed. I make and use the deodorant and can honestly say it is fantastic.

Hopefully this has given you something to think about. Do let me know if you use coconut oil too.

Have a great weekend

Puppies and Granny Squares

…..oh what an exciting week has it been for us. Not only have I finally managed to master a granny square Ela first granny square I have also made a larger one for the puppy which will be joining our family this weekend!puppy picpuppy blanketThe bets are on, how long will the blanket last? I’m convinced she will  not chew it and I’m sticking to it. The puppy is still called puppy, however we will have to make a decision soon. This has proven to be more difficult than naming our girls.

The sun is shining in the UK, snow is falling in South Africa (more than we had in the UK last winter) and for those of us who enjoy the football have a fantastic weekend filled with barbecues  and all things nice.

I will be playing with the puppy , if the girls let me that is.

Have a great weekend

the first of many………

I cannot believe that it is exactly one year ago when I had the first ladies join me for our craft lessons. Since then I have met some lovely ladies and made some wonderful friends. Thank you all for being part of this venture and for enriching my life.

I have also been invited to sell some of my creations in a lovely store in Frimley – The Pottery Gift House

You will be able to find my little bags, ceramic platters and some felted soaps. Do pop into the store, there are great gifts and should you be planning a wedding Sarah Jane will be of great help too.

Have  you every been berry picking? It is great fun and I managed to find some elderberry flowers too which have been made into a delicious cordial, another first for me.

If you live or are visiting the Berkshire/Surrey are do pop into Grays’s Farm for a few strawberries and other delicious treats. As you will be in the area make sure to pay a visit to Holme Grange Craft Village, a fantastic array of individual shops, local crafts and much more. I loved the Little Craft Barn, especially their wool selection. It seams to have grown considerably over the last year and as well as stocking the well known brands it has some delightfully different wools to offer.

I bought a variegated cotton and will finally try and master the granny square. Please don’t laugh, I’m a knitter so the granny square is a challenge for me.

So, that is what I will be doing now, but not before I share the event of the weekend with you.
